Art Sale & Exhibition
There are still art works available for sale if you are interested and a price can be negotiated. Have a look at our Gallery Page and contact the AFK co-ordinator if you would like to make a purchase.
AFK is delighted with the response to the Art Sale & Exhibitions in Perth & Sydney. Up to 200 people attended the Perth Exhibition with Dr Norman Ashton opening the occasion and commenting on the professional standards and good works of this organisation. As many of you know Dr Ashton conducted an archaeological survey of Kastellorizo and published his results in 1995 in Ancient Megisti: the Forgotten Kastellorizo. 11 Paintings were sold on the day which adds to the 6 that were sold on eBay. Dr Platon Alexiou was present to talk to people about his art. We now await the feedback from the Sydney Exhibition and know it will be a great success with Media Personality John Mangos being the MC. Any art not sold in Australia will be taken to Kastellorizo and available for sale at the Megisti Hotel.
Harbour/Limani Walking Guides
As part of the Youth Festival, AFK will be launching the new Limani Walking Guide put together by Andrew Johnstone, reviewed by Nick Pappas & Nick Bogiatzis and printed by Theo Pettaras from Digital Press. They will be available for sale this summer on Kastellorizo. The Walking Guide around the harbour begins at Hotel Megisti and finishes at the stairway from Horafia to the back streets of Kastellorizo and into the main cafe strip on the harbour's edge. A map is included which will assist you in learning about the island at your own pace and time of day. Thank you to all those people mentioned who have made this happen for 2009.
Visitor's Guide
Similarly, an Island Guide for Visitors has been produced for this summer on Kastellorizo free of charge. Once again, Andrew Johnstone and Nick Pappas were responsible for creating and reviewing this guide which will be most helpful in particular to newcomers to the island of Kastellorizo. Information about all that Kastellorizo has to offer as well as helpful facts and tips are included such as:
- Island Day Trips
- Medical & Pharmacy
- Health & Safety
- Water & Sanitation
- Eating & Drinking
- Swimming
- Temperatures
- Contact numbers for services on the island
